How to Make a Scrub for Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a medical treatment that removes the top layer of skin using crystals. Exfoliation eliminates dead skin layers, leaving the skin soft and radiant.
Homemade variations are less costly than pricey spa treatments and may be used once a week. Ingredients are readily available in most kitchens. In approximately 15 minutes, you can make a scrub.
In a small bowl, combine 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil, and 1 teaspoon lemon juice. With a wooden spoon, stir until all of the ingredients are completely combined.
Add six drops of essential oil, such as lavender or citrus. Add 1 tbsp. baking soda to help soften the skin.
Combine thoroughly until all lumps are gone. The combination should be of a single hue. Combine the ingredients in a clean, dry jar with a tight-fitting cover.
Keep it in a dry environment. The scrub should be applied once every six months.
With a small spoon, scoop 2 to 3 teaspoons of the mixture into the palm of your hand. Combine three to four droplets of water to form a paste. Apply the paste in a circular motion to your wet face using your fingertips or a damp washcloth. Gently rub into the face, but avoid over scrubbing.
  • Additionally, a few drops of vanilla essence or a pinch of cinnamon may be added
  • Make a salt scrub by substituting salt for sugar.

Warning

If you have sensitive skin, limit yourself to once or twice a week use of the DIY microdermabrasion scrub.
